Description

This class invites young artists in grades 1-5 to explore the magical world of clay with Slowfire teacher Ms. Fernanda! Taught entirely in Spanish (at a level perfect for early learners), students will discover the foundational techniques of ceramic handbuilding while playing with form, texture, and imagination. They’ll create both functional and whimsical projects—like animal figurines, treasure boxes, story tiles, or colorful cups—using water-based clay. After building, students will decorate their pieces with a rainbow of underglaze colors and finish with a shiny glass coat. Because clay takes time to dry and fire in the kiln, projects will be ready to take home at the end of the session.

All materials, kiln firings, and outside labor are included in the cost of the class. No prior clay experience is necessary! Beginners will learn the basics, while returning students will be guided to build on their skills and try new projects.

No class on January 19th & February 16th.
